Some people believe that university education is helpful, while others think that university is not the right place to acquire new skills. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your knowledge and experience

Some people agree that student should be educated in universities and they are helpful to be successful, whereas some people do not agree with this. Both the views are discussed below.
On the one hand, people believe that university gives students an opportunity to build their skills. Firstly, the colleges follow the standards of having knowledgeable and experienced professors to handle the different courses. As a result, the format of the academics are prepared and students are advised to take the courses as guided. For example, the college advisors or professors talk to the student and then decide the course to be taken to achieve their goals. Secondly, the professors also motivate the students to excel in academics and they also try to have a healthy competition among students. Every student would try to win the competition by using their skills and also improve them.
On the other hand, the students are not given any freedom to choose the courses they like to attend and they are bound to follow all the guidelines regulated by universities. For example, the student may wish to take classes for music and science but the advisor may not allow the individual to choose courses randomly. The universities also follow the timetable for various lectures and most of the time the student is involved in long lecturers and hence, they may not find leisure time to improve their skills. Moreover, the homework or tasks given on daily basis would exhaust the student. The college would always focus on education instead of adding some extra-curricular activities would discourage student and have a negative impact on their performance.
I believe that university play vital role in student’s life and also in establishing new skills.(287 Words, Band 6.5)
