You have had a bank account for a few years. Recently, you received a letter from the bank stating that your account is $240 overdrawn and that you will be charged $70 which will be taken directly from your account. You know that this information is incorrect. Write a letter to the bank. Explain what has happened and say what you would like them to do about it. You do not need to write any addresses. Begin your letter with Dear Sir,

SAMPLE ANSWER:

Dear Sir,

This is Jeff Anderson and I am holding an account in your bank. This is regarding the penalty of 70$ which was imposed on me due to the overdrawn amount of 240$.

Firstly, I would like to highlight that there was no overdrawn from my side. I have been monitoring my bank account for last 10 years and it has never happened that I crossed the allocated withdrawn limit. I suspect it could be some technical issue from your side due to which I received this letter from your bank stating incorrect information. Moreover, I am very much disappointed by looking into the penalty which occurred due to this incident.

I would request you to look into this matter and check all the transaction details which happened on my account in last one month. Kindly send me the copy of all transaction details to my mailing address.

Thanks for your help and assistance. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours Faithfully
Jeff Anderson

As most people spend a major part of their adult life at work, job satisfaction is an important element of individual wellbeing. What factors contribute to job satisfaction. How realistic is the expectation of job satisfaction for all workers? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

SAMPLE ANSWER:

Nowadays many adults have full-time jobs and the proportion of their lives spent doing such jobs is very high. So feeling about one's job must reflect how an individual feels about his or her life as a whole, and because of this, job satisfaction is indeed very important for the well being of that person.

Employees get job satisfaction in a number of ways. Firstly, a person needs to feel that they are doing valued and valuable work, so positive feedback from superiors is very important in this respect. A sense of fulfillment is also encouraged if a worker feels the job is worth doing because it contributes to the society or the economy as a whole. Secondly, when someone feels they are improving or developing their skills through training opportunities, for example, then there is a sense of progression and purpose that rewards a worker. The sense of belonging to a team or a working community also contributes to job satisfaction because colleagues help each other to enjoy their working lives. Satisfaction is also increased by a sense of responsibility for and loyalty to a team.

Of course not everyone enjoys their work. Hard economic realities mean that many people have little choice in the kind of job they can get. In some cases, an employee is working in a job that suits neither their skills nor their personality. Some jobs are repetitive and boring, and labor relations may be poor and lead to resentment and insecurity rather than to job satisfaction.

However, even though it is unlikely that all workers do feel happy in their work, I think it is not unrealistic to promote more job satisfaction in any job. If the factors identified above are implemented, then any job can be improved and more workers can feel greater degrees of job satisfaction(304 Words, Band 6.5)

In many places, new homes are needed, but the only space available for building them is in the countryside. Some people believe it is more important to protect the countryside and not build new homes there. What is your opinion about this? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

SAMPLE ANSWER:

Presently, the problem of a living space has risen to prominence in many places of the country. There is absolutely no way to build new houses in some cities, and a lot of people suggest to carry out construction in the countryside. However, it is a controversial topic introducing heavy debates.

Opponents of urbanization of formerly rural areas state that it would cause a dramatic effect on the natural exosystem of such places. The most drastic consequences are caused by the infrastructure that necessarily follows any human settlement - that is, roads, power lines, means of water supply and such. The construction of those engineering projects leads to the destruction of natural biomes of ponds, rivers, and forests, causing many animals to migrate or go extinct. The arguments of environmentalists do make sense, but there also valuable ideas supporting the countryside occupation.

First of all, not even the most extreme supporters of spreading urbanization maintain that all of the countrysides should be filled with homes all over the place. In fact, there are good examples of even larger cities living perhaps not in harmony with surrounding nature, but at least in some form of cooperation. Having a considerable amount of parks inside inhabited area help both people to feel themselves better and plants and animals to have some sort of home. If I may present an example, the city of Zaporizhia where I live has a large island between the parts of the city which is covered with trees and largely unoccupied, being a nice counterpart to heavily populated nearby districts.

In conclusion, I would like to stress that while opponents of countryside settlements have many valid points, the situation is not as drastic as they portray it, and the co-existence of human population with nature is quite possible.(298 Words, Band 7)

Some people believe that university education is helpful, while others think that university is not the right place to acquire new skills. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your knowledge and experience

SAMPLE ANSWER:

Some people agree that student should be educated in universities and they are helpful to be successful, whereas some people do not agree with this. Both the views are discussed below.

On the one hand, people believe that university gives students an opportunity to build their skills. Firstly, the colleges follow the standards of having knowledgeable and experienced professors to handle the different courses. As a result, the format of the academics are prepared and students are advised to take the courses as guided. For example, the college advisors or professors talk to the student and then decide the course to be taken to achieve their goals. Secondly, the professors also motivate the students to excel in academics and they also try to have a healthy competition among students. Every student would try to win the competition by using their skills and also improve them.

On the other hand, the students are not given any freedom to choose the courses they like to attend and they are bound to follow all the guidelines regulated by universities. For example, the student may wish to take classes for music and science but the advisor may not allow the individual to choose courses randomly. The universities also follow the timetable for various lectures and most of the time the student is involved in long lecturers and hence, they may not find leisure time to improve their skills. Moreover, the homework or tasks given on daily basis would exhaust the student. The college would always focus on education instead of adding some extra-curricular activities would discourage student and have a negative impact on their performance.

I believe that university play vital role in student’s life and also in establishing new skills.(287 Words, Band 6.5)

Many jobs at around the house are done manually but could have been done by machines instead. What are the advantages or disadvantages of this? Give your opinion and include relevant examples. Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

SAMPLE ANSWER:

Nowadays, most of the jobs are managed and performed manually and these could also be substituted by machines. The pros and cons are discussed below.

One of the positive things that can be observed when the work is done manually is a less error-free situation, as the worker or employee perform the task with close observation and follow the procedure or rules that are necessary. The employees or staff at big industries or companies are trained to handle and understand the complexity involved in their work. These companies also help in the economic growth of country thereby providing a large number of jobs to new graduates, experienced individuals, and skilled personnel. For example, if a software company wins a contract, they would hire many people to manage the project and to develop and test the quality of the application. In addition, the economic growth also helps in developing the cities, as more number of people migrate to these locations where the companies are located.

On the other hand, some entrepreneurs believe that many jobs could be replaced by machines, as they work faster and very efficient on performance. Moreover, the equipment is durable for a long time and cost-effective because the setup would require one-time huge investment and later it involves maintenance of the machines. As a result, the company’s turnover and profit would significantly increase and along with this, they would also spend less money on resources to do the manual job. For instance, instead of hiring 10 people for one task, the machines could be used and hire one person to handle it. Also, this motivates to adopt latest methods or technologies emerging in the business.

According to me, I believe that replacing manual jobs by machines would not only help the nation to grow economically but also helps in developing the country.

Many people make friends through social sites and chat rooms. Others believe that it is not a good idea to make friends without meeting them face to face. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

SAMPLE ANSWER:

Recently, social network websites are used to make many friends. Few people believe that this is not a good medium and also agree that meeting friends face to face is very important. Some thoughts on this have been discussed below.

The usage of many social networks has been increased from since a couple of years thereby increasing the communication between people. One of the important group of people, one would like to interact a lot is “Friends” and social network is helping to make friends as there is no location constraint. For example, people staying at different locations are still connected via Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Moreover, people can share their emotions with their friends, irrespective of time and location. For instance, a friend can call or message to another friend to share good news at the time they would like to express. Adding to the point, there is no planning and preparation is required to talk to a friend or to meet them.

However, the emotions expressed face to face to a friend could have more impact. For example, while sharing a joy with a friend face to face would add more happiness and doubles the celebration. Due to this a lot of memories are created and can be cherished for a lifetime and also the locations where these were created or the situation that was shared, would always be incredible. Moreover, some feelings are inexpressible and such feelings can only be felt and understood by some actions such as hugging, eye contact, crying and laughing. These emotions are easily conveyed to a friend when they meet in person and hence, the bond is very strong.

In my opinion, I tend to believe that a strong relationship can be built between friends while meeting them face-to-face than virtually.

SAMPLE #65 WRITING TASK 1(20 MINS)(AT LEAST 150 WORDS)(GENERAL TRAINING)

You recently bought a piece of equipment for your kitchen but it did not work. You phoned the shop but no action was taken.

Write a letter to shop manager. In your letter.
• describe the problem with the equipment
• explain what happened when you phoned the shop
• say what you would like the manager to do. You do not need to write any addresses. Begin your letter with Dear Sir/ Madam,

SAMPLE ANSWER:

Dear Sir/Madam,

This is Heather and I am writing this letter regarding the microwave oven recently purchased from your store. The microwave was working fine for almost two weeks after purchase, suddenly one day it stopped warming the food. Moreover, I made an attempt to use different options on it, but nothing worked. On top of it, the ventilation fan that was inbuilt in equipment was broken.

With utmost disappointment, we carried the equipment to store, but it was not helpful as the store representative suggested talking to technical support for more assistance. Based on the contact information provided, I tried to reach the customer service representative, unfortunately, the waiting time was too long. After all the effort, finally, the representative was ready to take up my call. Due to lack of knowledge of the equipment, the agent was not successful in troubleshooting the problem.

To improve the customer service, I would like to provide some suggestions. Firstly, staff training should be enhanced and the technical team should be organized to troubleshoot different appliances. For example, by grouping, some employees to learn more about specific appliances would help in troubleshooting the problem quickly. Secondly, to avoid long waiting time to talk to a representative, virtual calling option can be introduced. This option allows customers to leave their number and message, and later the agent can contact them accordingly.

I hope that some of my feedbacks would help you and your team to help customers efficiently.

Yours faithfully,

There have been several complaints about the reception area where visitors to your company arrive. Your manager has asked you to suggest how the reception area could be improved.Write a letter to your manager. In your letter
  • describe the complaints that have been made
  • say why the reception area is important
  • suggest how the reception area could be improved

Begin your letter as follows: Dear.......,

SAMPLE ANSWER:

A number of visitors expressed their dissatisfaction with our company's reception area due to the face that it is not spacious and overcrowded. What is more, there are not enough desks to fill in the various forms. In addition, only one receptionist can be addressed to with a great number of questions which leads to the place being overcrowded.

Needless to say, the area where visitors arrive is extremely important as it is the image of a company and gives the first impression of the organization.Taking everything into consideration, it is highly recommended to widen the reception area by using the room next to it.

Moreover, it would be beneficial to equip the place with an additional feature for visitors to use. Finally, hiring a second receptionist would be definitely advantageous.

I am looking forward to the changes being implemented.

**********************TESTIMONIALS********************************

Firstly, my heartfelt gratitude to Mr.Vasanth for his expert guidance and professional assistance. Secondly, hats-off to his patience and commitment towards his trainees. I guess any sensible trainee would settle for these qualities in an ideal tutor. I scored an overall 8.5 in 1st attempt and a major share of credit goes to this gentleman! He is always relentless in spotting the mistakes and believes in constructive criticism, so I suggest all the trainees out there not to get discouraged with the score he gives you.. :) A simple trick would be to completely believe in his abilities as a trainer and religiously follow his advice and work on your improvement areas. As a final word, without a second thought, I would recommend this training to all the IELTS aspirants . Apply yourself sincerely.. walk away with amazing scores!

Kudos to Vasanth for this outstanding initiative..! May you have many more such success stories and happy trainees. :)

With all the humbleness..!
Shiva

Firstly I would like to thank Vasanth Raj, I would not have made it without his help. I scored Listening (7), Reading (8), Writing (7) and speaking (8). The course materials are very well prepared with lot of thought and experience. I was looking for a one on one session for writing practice, and was very happy when I came across this blog. It had been ages since I had written a letter or a essay I had completely lost touch. The first two sessions built a lot of confidence in me. If you are looking for a training with individual attention then this is it. The feedbacks are very constructive and you also get to work or practice on your weaker skills.

Thank you very much Raj

Undoubtedly, Vasanthraj is the primary contributor for my success. I always thought I can write well but Vasanthraj taught me how to write and thats how the story began. Ofcourse it took couple of attempts to gain an average score of 8 but eachtime I followed the tips of Raj to put my thoughts in a logical order.

Thank you so much .
Kamal

I would like to mention Raj's efforts in training me for IELTS exams, ever since i have started taking online classes from him, there was a noticeable change in my confidence in all four sections of the exam. I would like to give credit to him for his valuable guidance, without which I would not be able to get overall score of 7.5.

Thanks a tonne, Raj

My name is Yusuf.I am an international student in Malaysia.I had no idea as to how IELTS works for students even as I was given the manual and questions (on CDs) to work with.I sought for help through Google where I found this blog. And only had just 2 days left before my written test; of which the Listening,Reading and Writing took place the next day.Yet, I still made 6.5 band( and i needed 5.5).Thanks to Mr Raj's tips and drills online.

Hi, When I had to start the preparation for IELTS exam, I did not have any clue about the pattern. I had bitter experience with some coaching centers who just give model tests. Then, I found Raj's blog for IELTS preparation and enrolled for the online sessions. Just with 5 sessions, I got a band score of 7.5 (listening score of 8.5 and a score of 7 in all other modules).
Rather than the model tests, what a candidate needs to know is the strategy to be applied in every test. Raj's online training was no less than Bible for me. I followed the methods properly and managed to get a good score, more than required for my visa application. I thank Raj again for all the help.
Thanks
Govi

Well, let me go by giving the biggest of kudos to Onlineieltshelp conducted by Raj.It really helped in my exams.I made 8 bands in listening,6.5 in speaking,6.0 in reading and writing. It's really amazing.I live and study in Malaysia and I took the ielts training online with Raj,which seems like a new style of experience to me that many other people lack.IELTS is not all about what you know and to what extent you know them,it's just all about some hidden skills and tactics which the examiner wants to see in you.Absolutely onlineieltshelp is the place to get the required skills and tips for ielts.
Again,I say a big thank you for your rendered assistance in my exams.

Jalil

Hi, This is Vishnu. Since I am a working professional, I had no time for the classroom trainings, so I had to choose online training, which I thought would never help me without the normal interactions which we get in the classroom trainings. But, not oneday I felt that I am missing anything. He is a true professional with excellent commitment. Well designed courses and flexible timings. Nominal fees. Can we expect more than this ? I would recommend this blog for any aspiring IELTS takers. Way to go Raj !

Hi ! I'm Ram.I took IELTS from India on 18-Feb'12 and got an overall band score of 8.0.
My IELTS journey will not culminate until I share a few words about Mr.Vasant Raj's IELTS online training.Trust me,the overall experience was amazing & in my opinion, the following are some of the salient features of this traning:
1] Well structured and organized curriculum.
2] Proven and coherent strategies specifically for Speaking and Writing.Listening sessions & Reading strategies were equally good and useful.
3] Professionally conducted.
4] Does perfect analysis of individuals-plus and minus and helps to fill the gap wherever required.
Eg:Initially, I was a bit confused with the punctuation marks in Writing.Raj had provided me with special notes on that and moreover, he gave a whole session on it ,which ulimately made me error free in that matter.
There were many more areas where I really got value addition from his training and in addition to that,I used to get timely & constructive feedback from him which helped me to understand my grey areas and work on the same.
5] Timely evaluations and feedback of respective tests.
6] Online, one click away.I can see him always logged into Skype..don't know how he manages that :P
7] Nevertheless to say,reasonably flexible.
All of these helped me to attain an overall band score of 8.0.Thanks to Raj !!
I'm really delighted to know a person like him and I would like to recommend his trainings for all IELTS aspirants.

All the best Raj,May you have a lot of successful students
like me :)
Will keep in touch...May God bless you.
Regards
Ram

I am Ravindranath from Bangalore,India. I was bit skeptical before I subscribed to the training, but later realized that how effective the online training has been. I do not have to travel all the way to any coaching institution moreover the training is conducted in flexible timing hours which was very useful for working professionals like me. Raj training was impeccable. I got constructive feedback about my pain points which has given me a lot of scope to improve. All the best Raj :)

Regards,
Ravindranath

Hi,
I am Nani from Hyderabad,India. I got to know about this training program through one of my friend. My pain point was writing. I am consistently scoring 6, 6.5 band in writing module from past two attempts. But after undergoing this training program, i scored 7.5 band in Writing. Very nice and constructive program which boosts your confidence. The best part of the program is the feedback which you get from the trainer Vasanth. Unlike others, trainer will suggest modifications to your own essay so that the same essay could be written as band 7 or band 8.

Regards,
Nani.
